MONTHLY UPDATE: JUNE 2025
Construction continues to advance across multiple phases at Sherford this month, with several key infrastructure projects moving towards completion.
Phase 2D continues to see substantial improvements with the attenuation basin nearing completion and the 2D culvert has now entered its final 12 weeks of construction.
A new cycle path adjacent to parcels 27 and 28 will be installed over the coming weeks, further enhancing sustainable transport links throughout the development.
Work is progressing well on the offsite northern water mains from Deep Lane, ensuring reliable infrastructure for the expanding community. Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the business park development, with construction proposed to commence in July.
Behind the scenes, important handover preparations continue with ongoing meetings with FirstPort, the estate management company, ahead of the transfer of open space areas to their care.
Roadworks:
Raising Ironwork, Orion Drive
Work will take place from 9-16 June for one week to facilitate raising ironwork within the roundabout at Orion Drive in preparation for wearing course application shortly afterwards. The wearing course is the surface layer of a pavement that takes the wear of traffic.
During this period access and egress will be maintained as much as possible for residents whilst works are being carried out. Alternative routes will be available during this period.
Drainage Repairs: Sirocco Lane, Aurora Drive, Beaufort Place
Work will take place from 9-23 June to repair the drainage systems in the above locations over a 2-week period approx. (weather permitting)
During this period access and egress will be maintained as much as possible for residents whilst works are being carried out. Alternative parking will be necessary during this period whilst work is being carried out. Disruption will be kept to a minimum whilst work is being undertaken. Diversions will be in place for the repair period.
Drainage Inspections: Phase 1
Residents in Sherford's first phase should be aware of ongoing inspection work over the next 4-6 weeks, as essential drainage system monitoring takes place. Specialist CCTV inspections are being carried out on the drainage network around Hercules Road and surrounding streets, including Lynx Lane, Libra Avenue, Aries Lane, Pegasus Place, Indus Place, Vela Row, and Aquarius Drive.
The work is starting on 2nd June and it is a mandatory inspection process; a crucial step before the underground infrastructure can be officially handed over to South West Water for adoption. Residents may notice some disruption as manhole covers are removed for inspection, with Glanville Environmental's team moving through different streets to assess the drainage infrastructure.
During the final week of the project, most work will focus on Hercules Road itself. To minimise disruption to traffic and ensure safety, this work is planned for evenings, with all activities finishing by 10pm at the latest. Glanville Environmental will issue letters directly to affected residents and manage any necessary traffic diversions during the inspection period.
