CHANGES AROUND THE SCHOOL SQUARE
Work is underway this week to replace the hoarding around Sherford's local centre square with new timber fencing, ahead of construction beginning in the area.
The existing hoarding along Hercules Road is being removed and replaced with 'hit and miss' style wooden fencing. Work will then progress towards the school before moving to the opposite side of the square, with the full process expected to be complete by the end of the month.
The new fencing will sit closer to the kerb than the existing hoarding, reducing the available pavement width to 2 metres. This is narrower than residents will be used to, though there remains sufficient space for pedestrians, pushchairs and wheelchairs to pass.
Families walking or cycling to Sherford Vale school are asked to bear this in mind during the works. Likewise those using Sherford Community Hub, House of Brews, and the Convenience Store.
Vehicles must not be parked on the pavements around the square, as this would reduce the available space on the footpaths further and could risk the safety of other pedestrians.
