MONTHLY UPDATE: NOVEMBER
November sees Sherford Road move into its maintenance period ahead of adoption, improvement works in Phase 1B nearing completion, and the swale works reaching their final stages.
Sherford Road
The traffic calming works on Sherford Road are now complete, and the road has moved into a 12-month maintenance period. This is the final step before Plymouth City Council adopts the road. During the maintenance period, which runs until 30th October 2027, the Sherford Consortium remains responsible for the road.
Estate Improvement Works
Improvement works in Phase 1B and 2D are continuing, with roads being resurfaced in tarmac, and most of Phase 1B is now complete with work then moving on to 2D. Please note that work on Strawberry Lane is taking longer as it involves block paving, which is more time-intensive to lay, and the same applies to one section at the bottom of Buzzard Way.
- Sirocco Lane Roadworks: From 2 November to 18 November, work will take place on Sirocco Lane to raise ironwork, such as manhole and drain covers, and carry out any repairs needed before the final road surface is laid. Diversions will be in place, and access for residents will be maintained as much as possible. See a map of the work here.
- Aurora Drive: On 19th November for one day, there will be roadworks taking place - letters will go to residents nearer the time.
- Zenith Way: Later in November, roadworks will take place - letters will go to residents nearer the time.
Hercules Road
New tarmac pavements have been laid on both sides of Hercules Road near Zeus Avenue, alongside the stone walls by the duck pond, to improve this area for pedestrians.
The green space at the junction of Hercules Road and Electra Way, opposite the Tour of Britain bike, is also being completed. Railings have been installed and the temporary fencing removed, and after a final tidy-up the area will be opened up to all, as new public open space.
Swale Improvement Works
Work on the swales alongside Aquarius Drive and Gemini Road is now at its final stages and is intended to finish this month, weather permitting. Once complete, the footbridges into the play park will be reinstated.
Landscaping
Landscaping work is taking place around the back of West Sherford Farm and Briar Park, linking this area into the Country Park - creating more ways to access and use this parkland.
Sherford Business Park
Roadworks to create the new filter lane at Sherford Business Park are still ongoing. We apologise for any disruption and thank drivers for their patience.
Archaeology Sites:
Residents may have noticed work taking place on the plot at the corner of Strawberry Lane and Aquila Drive. This activity is in line with the plans for this area. The two areas of archaeological interest around this location are the Ice Age megafauna site and the Neolithic site. Investigations at both have now been completed, and the remains have been removed for analysis and safeguarding. As announced at the time of each discovery, the plan has always been to secure these areas and turn the land above them into public open space. That remains the case, and no construction is planned on top of either site.
More information about the plans for the public open space by Aquila Drive and the new play area will be shared soon.
