MONTHLY UPDATE: OCTOBER
October sees improvement works continuing across Phase 1B, progress on installing essential utilities across Hercules Road, and exciting developments on the Northern Pitches.
Swale Improvement Works
Work on the swales alongside Aquarius Drive and Gemini Road is continuing and is expected to be completed in November. The current focus is completing the holding basin, which forms an important part of Sherford's sustainable drainage system. Every effort will be made to reopen one of the footbridges into the play park as soon as possible. Until then, please use the alternative route, which has been signposted.
Western Pitches
The final section of the access route into Sherford's new football and cricket pitches is now being completed, after which work will move on to the pitches themselves. Last month, a reserved matters planning application was been submitted to Plymouth City Council for the Sherford Sports Pavilion, which will be located in this area. Full details are available here.
Hercules Road
Works are ongoing on Hercules Road to allow utilities to cross the road, alongside preparation for the installation of new traffic lights at the Business Park. Temporary traffic lights will remain in place and queues are likely at peak times, so please allow extra time for journeys and use alternative routes where possible.
Estate Improvement Works
Remedial works are continuing across Phase 1B, including the replacement of block paving. These works are expected to continue for the next couple of months. We will continue to post updates to this page about specific road closures due during the month - and thank residents for their continued patience.
Aquilla Drive/Buzzard Way Block Paving Works and Kerbs: work will be commencing on the 7th of October on the above road junction for approx. 2 weeks to install kerbs and block paving required in order to finish off the road surfacing. During this period alternative routes will be put in place to allow for access and egress to other residential streets and properties i.e. Primrose Drive. Please see the location here.
Gully Clearance Work
Gully clearance work across Phase 1.1 has now been completed. Thank you to residents on the affected roads for their cooperation in moving vehicles while the work took place.
Site Maintenance and Landscaping Update
Routine landscape maintenance has continued across all phases of the site. In Phase 1.1, a new path has been installed along with soft landscaping, and minor maintenance repairs have been carried out to the slide and swing in the play park. In Phase 2D, new screening fencing has been installed and the area around the new bus stop has been finished with gravel. In Phase 3, tree planting pits continue to be installed and further fencing has been put up ahead of new homes being occupied. At the Business Park, clearance work is continuing to allow electricity network works to take place.
