MONTHLY SITE UPDATE: JUNE 2026
June is a busy month on site at Sherford, with significant utilities works underway. Residents and those living in the wider local area should note the planned closures and roadworks below. Elsewhere, Phase 3 reaches another milestone and work continues across the Country Park and recreational facilities.
Utilities Works and Road Closures
Preparation work is taking place throughout June to enable a South West Water connection point to be made. This will require a short road closure:
- 5th - 9thJune. Wiverton lane, exact location here on what3words: https://w3w.co/deeds.rice.circus
These dates have been chosen to limit disruption for residents and businesses in the area, and works will be completed as quickly as possible.
In the final weeks of June, utilities installation will also take place from Phase 2D through to the Business Park, with gas, electric and water connections being laid. Temporary traffic lights will be in place, and some disruption should be expected, particularly where the installation crosses the road.
The Consortium will operate a rolling traffic management system and will avoid peak times wherever possible to keep delays to a minimum.
Phase 1 Road Completion Works
Completion works are due to take place across several streets over the coming months, involving block paving, kerb replacements, raising ironwork and laying of the final wearing course to roads and footpaths.
The main streets affected will be Buzzard Way, Rose Way, Strawberry Lane, Primrose Drive, Aquila Drive and Sycamore Way, though works may need to extend to other streets. Traffic diversions will be put in place where necessary, and disruption will be kept to a minimum throughout.
Sherford Road Traffic Calming Project
Work on the Sherford Road Traffic Calming project continues to progress as planned and remains on schedule. Full information, plans and maps remain available at www.sherford.uk/planning
Phase 3 Development
The first residents are expected to move into Phase 3 this month, with more set to follow. This marks another significant milestone in Sherford's continued growth.
Cricket Facilities
Preparation work on the cricket pitch is ongoing. Subject to readiness, there is potential for cricket clubs to be able to use the facilities later this summer.
Swale Improvements
Design work on improving the swales has now been completed and the works are due to be contracted out imminently, with improvement works expected to commence this summer.
Country Park
Bee hives have recently arrived in the Country Park as part of an ongoing biodiversity project at Sherford. The hives will be relocated to a more secluded spot within the park shortly, at which point further information on the project will be shared.
Path repair works are also ongoing across the Country Park, with access routes being improved for visitors.
Dust Prevention
During recent hot weather, the Consortium has doubled its on-site resources to manage dust, with two water bowsers and two tankers in use. Seeding has also been planted across areas of bare earth to help improve ground conditions.
