OUTDOOR FITNESS COMES TO SHERFORD COUNTRY PARK
A new outdoor fitness provider is launching at Sherford Country Park this summer, offering affordable group sessions for residents of all ages and abilities.
Darcen Yearwood, a qualified personal trainer with more than 10 years of experience, is starting Sherford Country Park Bootcamp - a series of structured, inclusive group fitness sessions making the most of the park's open green space.
Sessions will run every Wednesday and Saturday morning at 10:30am, starting on Saturday 6th June. The 45-minute class will include circuit work and bodyweight exercises, with boxercise potentially added to the mix in future.
All equipment is provided, participants just need to bring a mat, water, and wear appropriate clothing.
Darcen already works as a PT at Sculpt Plymouth in Estover and teaches karate to children in Ivybridge, and has personal ties to Sherford. It was that connection - and the Country park right on the doorstep - that inspired him to bring his sessions here.
Set at affordable levels, sessions are priced at £5 per head, with one-to-one outdoor PT sessions also available at £25 for 45 minutes. Trial sessions and bring-a-friend incentives are planned to encourage the community to give it a go.
Darcen holds full insurance, relevant qualifications, and permission from the Sherford Consortium to operate at the site, which is located on the open green space right, next to the Country Park car park off Gemini Road.
