REGISTERING FOR AN ALLOTMENT
While the first allotments are still some time away from being available to use, Sherford will eventually have several allotments for the community to use and benefit from. In total, there will be eight-hectares of land dedicated to allotment space, giving residents and community groups the opportunity to grow fresh produce near their homes.
Sherford is a growing town, so to make sure the process of securing a plot is fair to both current and future residents, a new registration system will be announced when the first allotments are set to open. At this point, decisions will be made on how the allotments will be managed, how plots will be allocated, and how to register interest - and this will be communicated to the community.
In the meantime, for anyone with an interest in gardening, the Friends of Sherford Country Park group always welcomes new members. The Friends group is RHS affiliated and undertakes projects within Sherford's expansive public green space, enabling members to mix and enjoy the great outdoors.
