IT’S OFFICIAL: SHERFORD RESIDENTS ARE HAPPY WITH GROWING TOWN
The results of Sherford’s third Community Survey have been published, offering a valuable snapshot into life in the fast-growing town. Led by South Hams District Council, the survey attracted responses from nearly one third of households and highlights what residents value most and where improvements are hoped for as Sherford continues to develop.
Most encouragingly, a substantial 85% of respondents said they enjoy living in Sherford. Residents praised the area’s sense of community, safety, green spaces, and family-friendly environment. Many also expressed pride in being part of a growing town with a clear vision for the future.
The survey also reveals that Sherford continues to attract residents from the local area - proving much-needed homes for local people - with 78% of new households relocating from within 10 miles of their previous residence, demonstrating the town’s strong local appeal.
The findings paint a picture of a vibrant, young community, with 58% of homes being families with children. The average household size stands at 3.3 people, above the South Hams average, reflecting Sherford’s appeal to growing families.
The results from this survey help provide important insights into life at Sherford and will assist in understanding how the town is growing and how services can be planned to meet the community’s needs. Many thanks to all the residents of Sherford who took part in the survey.
