The Vision

Quite unlike any other development

Sherford is set to become one of the South West’s most vibrant and thriving communities. Decades in planning, Sherford is flourishing, with plenty to see and do, and a strong community spirit.

When complete, Sherford will have 5,500 quality homes in three distinct neighbourhoods, four schools, community facilities, shops, 84,000 square metres of employment and retail space, abundant green space including a 500-acre country park, and extensive transport links.

£1 billion is being invested in its construction

Sherford enjoys design inspiration drawn from a mix of traditional architecture and contemporary Devon style. Residents will benefit from energy-efficient homes, modern amenities and a ‘walkable’ community with almost half of the new community dedicated to green space.

One of only a handful of government-backed major housing developments, with £32m invested in the development by Homes England, the construction of Sherford began in 2015.

The Masterplan

The masterplan for Sherford has been carefully designed to create a safe and attractive place that promotes wellbeing and community spirit, while respecting and celebrating the Devon landscape in which it exists.

Accessibility to green space, community, and sustainability are at the heart of the masterplan for Sherford.

The town will enjoy traditional, liveable and vibrant streets, amongst a network of attractive spaces and places. Homes will be connected to recreation areas, the natural environment, and high-quality neighbourhood amenities – all accessible via foot, bus or bicycle.
