EVENTS AT SHERFORD: HALF-TERM FAMILY FUN
Looking for inspiration for half-term activities this October? Look no further than Sherford. From football for sporty kids, to autumnal crafts for creative children, there is something for everyone - and it's all for free. Take a look at the packed programme of events.
FREE PUMPKIN CARVING AND AUTUMN CRAFTS FOR CHILDREN
Part of the Destination Sherford events programme, children and families are invited to get involved in a fun-filled free crafting event. Everything is supplied to create seasonal art masterpieces and let kids' imaginations run wild.
- Saturday 26 October 2024
- 10am-2pm
- This session includes pumpkin carving, right in time for Halloween, so children can make their own spooky or silly creation and take it home
- Helpers will be on hand to guide the session and provide all the necessary materials - but children need to be accompanied at the event by an adult
- There is no cost to take part, but booking is required to make sure enough materials are available

Sherford Event Space can be found on the junction of Hercules Road and Pisces Street (the glass fronted end building, part of the Linden Homes sales complex).
SHERFORD SPORTS HUB COMMUNITY LAUNCH
New outdoor sports facilities – including an all-weather sand-dressed astro turf pitch, full-size grass pitch, and tennis courts – have opened at Sherford, managed by Argyle Community Trust. To celebrate the launch in style, a Community Launch Week is happening throughout half-term, with a whole host of free or discounted activities taking place.

Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate the new partnership. A free event with no booking required, the day will provide an opportunity to experience the new facilities first-hand and offer a range of fun activities for families, including:

Sports – football, tennis, cricket, hockey

Face painting

Refreshments – Argyle’s Pilgrim Pizza, ice cream

A food donation stand for Project 35, Argyle’s social impact project, in partnership with Ginsters, aimed at tackling poverty

Open to all, visitors are invited to have a go at tennis, kick a ball around on the astro pitch, and enjoy the new facilities

Argyle Community Trust will run various sports sessions, holiday clubs, and community outreach activities at Sherford from the new facilities. This will include an opportunity to play tennis for free at least once a week with support from qualified tennis coaches, free equipment hire, and a loyalty scheme.
