GET MORE INVOLVED IN SHERFORD IN 2026
As Sherford continues to grow, so too does the opportunity for residents to shape the future of the town. Sherford Community Land Trust is inviting residents to be part of that conversation at the second event in its emerging series of evening heritage talks, taking place at Sherford Vale School Hall on Thursday, 22 January, from 6pm to 8pm.
The “Making the Most Of…” events are designed to do more than simply inform. They aim to explore important ideas and future challenges for Sherford, while also offering relaxed, social evenings where neighbours can meet, share ideas, and strengthen the sense of community across the town.
At this latest event, Sherford Community Land Trust will focus on shared ownership and land management, drawing inspiration from past, current and innovative models from across Devon. The discussion will explore what these approaches could mean for the future stewardship of Sherford’s country park, and how it can create lasting benefits for both people and nature.
Guest speakers for the evening include Rob Haward, CEO of Riverford Organic Farmers, along with a representative from the National Trust Plymouth Portfolio (to be confirmed), who will share insights and real-world experience.
Alongside the talks and discussion, residents will be invited to take part in a further round of voting on proposed names for new and emerging green spaces. There will also be information stalls, refreshments, and plenty of opportunity for informal conversation.
Whether residents are passionate about green spaces, curious about community-led land stewardship, or simply looking for ways to get more involved locally, this event offers a welcoming starting point. 2026 could be the year to connect more deeply with the community and help shape Sherford’s future.
