SHERFORD OPEN GARDENS 2025
This year marks an exciting new chapter for the popular Open Gardens event in Sherford.
For the first time, all six participating gardens are located within Sherford's new community, offering visitors a unique opportunity to see how residents have created incredible outdoor spaces in their new gardens. The Open Gardens event this year is designed to showcase creative solutions and inspire other new homeowners.
Sherford Community Trust has provided a gazebo, and the Sherford Over 50's Coffee Club will be serving refreshments with assistance from the Sherford Community Church. These refreshments will be available at the Community Hub on Hercules Road, which will also host the plant stall.
Something for all ages, activities for young people will be run by the Guides, who are working on establishing a Guides unit set up in Sherford. There will also be a sunflower competition taking place. 42 children had sunflower seeds - with the pots and compost donated by South West Composting in Brixton. Every child that succeeds and brings their seedling to the hub will receive a tree sapling as a prize
Christine King from Friends of Sherford Country Park, said, "This is the fourth year we have held the Open Gardens event and this year it will take place entirely within Sherford. The purpose is to build community spirit and inspire people to enhance the environment by cultivating their garden. We hope the local community will support this event and help raise much needed funds for our local hospice."

About Friends of Sherford Country Park

Supporting St Luke's Hospice
St Luke's Hospice team provides compassionate care to patients, often allowing them to stay in familiar surroundings close to loved ones. The charity runs an established Open Gardens programme from March to September each year, and while the Sherford event isn't an official location for this regional campaign, Sherford will be supporting the charity through its own community event.
The event represents a true community collaboration, with proceeds benefiting St Luke's Hospice, which has raised more than £590,000 through their Open Gardens scheme over the past 15 years. For more information about other gardens open this year in support of St Luke's, visit their 2025 brochure.
Join in the Sherford event and enjoy an afternoon of garden inspiration, community spirit, and support for an important local cause.
