MONTHLY UPDATE: OCTOBER 2024
There is a huge amount happening on site as we head into the Autumn. Estate completion work in Phase 1.1 - to put any required finishing touches to roads and footpaths - will be completed. This work then moves into Phase 1.B. Also in Phase 1.B, work will both start and be finished on a new urban park within October.
Towards the end of the month, work will begin to create the footpath leading from Sherford to Sherford Road. Part of a larger project to make improvements to Sherford Road, the footpath will only open once the work takes place to modify the junction and put traffic calming measures in place. However, by creating the footpath now, it will enable this public footpath and cycle path to open as soon as possible once the wider project moves forward.
Over in Phase 2.D, the final road is being constructed, which is a major milestone for the infrastructure in this area. In Phase 3A/B, earthworks have started to ready this section for drainage to be installed. The Archaeological work in this area is now around 75% complete.
Sherford's Western Pitches are poised to open to the public, which is a welcome step. Further cementing Sherford as a hub for outdoor sports, the cricket green has also now been prepared and sown. Layers of stone, sand, soil and seed are now in place and will be left to settle and mature for 12-18 months.
