COMMUNITY CELEBRATION OF THE GREAT OUTDOORS
Some of Sherford's thriving community groups will be hosting a celebration on Saturday 1st April - and it's open to all. Taking place from 2-6pm, there is an array of activities planned:
- 2-3pm, Sherford Country Park. Tree planting and wild flower seed sowing
- 3:30-6pm, Sherford Community Hub. Displays, competition and refreshments
Head along to the Country Park to join in with planting trees and sowing wild flower seeds - and get an understanding of the Friends of Sherford Country Park group in action. This voluntary community group undertakes projects within the expansive public green space, enables members to mix and enjoy the great outdoors, and encourages everyone to work together for the common good. The group is RHS affiliated and includes 25+ households from within the old and new parts of the community – Sherford, Elburton, and the surrounding area.
The community celebration will then move to Sherford Community Hub on Hercules Road. There will be the opportunity to find out more about the various groups and activities on offer at Sherford - including Friends of Sherford Country Park, Over 50s Group and Sherford Community Church - all while meeting new people over tea and cake.
In keeping with the theme of the day, there will also be the opportunity to peruse a plant sale! For children, there will be a Miniature Garden Competition. There are two classes: ages 5 to 7 or 8 to 11 years of age. Entrants for the Children's Miniature Garden competition should be brought along by 3pm and judging will be at 4pm.
