FRIENDS OF SHERFORD COUNTRY PARK LOOK AHEAD TO 2026
As Christmas approaches, the Friends of Sherford Country Park (FOSCP) are reflecting on a productive year of activity and looking ahead to an exciting programme for 2026.
Over the past 12 months, volunteers have been busy across the Country Park, working in the community orchard, planting oaks and willow, sowing wildflowers and planting bluebell bulbs, as well as continuing with hedgelaying work. These efforts are helping to enhance the park's biodiversity and create valuable habitats for local wildlife.
Membership renewals
The annual subscription of £10 for group membership is now due. This covers group membership of the RHS and insurance for both people and tools, enabling volunteers to continue their important work in the Country Park. Frances Horder will be in touch with payment details - and those not current members that are keen to get involved, are urged to make contact.
Hedgelaying Workshop
FOSCP's popular workshop series returns on Saturday 17 January 2026 with a Hedgelaying Workshop led by local expert James Dyson, running from 10am to 4pm. Participants will learn how to lay a living hedge using traditional countryside management techniques. The workshop is free, but booking is essential as places are limited. Sturdy boots, gardening clothes and gloves are required.
Community evening and planning meeting
An Environment and Heritage Community Evening is scheduled for Wednesday 22 January 2026, with further details to be announced soon. FOSCP will also hold a planning meeting in the last week of January to discuss upcoming activities and projects for the year ahead.
For more information about any of these activities or to book your place on the Hedgelaying Workshop, contact foscp25@gmail.com or join their Facebook page 'Friends of Sherford Country Park' for regular updates.
