SHERFORD VALE IS STEADILY EXPANDING
The ambitious expansion project is well underway at Sherford Vale primary school, with the construction of its second wing progressing well. Once finished, this new addition to the school will double its capacity.
Since the project starting on 7th August 2023, great strides have been made by Devon Contractors and the work is expected to be complete by 15th July. The school community eagerly anticipates the enhanced facilities that will enable it to welcome more students and deliver the great educational experience it is known for.
As of now, the project has reached a critical juncture, with 29 weeks of work already completed and 20 weeks remaining - so well past the halfway point. In the past month alone, several key milestones have been achieved, thanks to the hard work of the construction team and specialist trades involved.
Roofing works have commenced on the west roof, marking a significant step forward. Window installation is well underway and progressing steadily, enhancing the building's natural light and ventilation. Plinths have been installed in preparation for the installation of insulation and underfloor heating.
Even during the recent half-term holidays, the construction team was hard at work, undertaking electrical works within the existing school building to ensure minimal disruption to daily activities.
Looking ahead, the coming month promises further progress. Roof cladding works are set to be completed, bringing the structure one step closer to its finished state. Window and curtain walling installation will also be finalised, and the scaffolding will start coming down.
With each passing day, Sherford Vale's expansion project edges closer to completion, bringing the vision of a modern, spacious learning environment closer to reality for pupils and teachers alike. As the school community eagerly awaits the unveiling of the new facilities, anticipation mounts for the opportunities and possibilities ahead.
