A welcoming and inclusive community
Sherford is a town that is welcoming to all and a friendly neighbourhood that attracts people keen to be part of somewhere unique and community-minded.

One of the most striking elements of Sherford is the sheer scale of green space it has, and will have as the development continues.
With sports and recreation facilities, cycle and walking routes, abundant open green space and play areas – Sherford will encourage exercise, wellbeing and enjoyment of the great outdoors.
Sherford will enjoy a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants in its town centre, as well as a smaller number of amenities in each of three local centres in each neighbourhood.
Sherford already has one primary school, which expanded to double its capacity in 2024. This is one of four schools planned for the town, which will have three primary schools and one secondary school on completion.
In Sherford, council-run services may be provided by Plymouth City Council or South Hams District Council, depending on where you live. Please see our Directory of contacts for information on how to get in touch with the right organisation for your needs.
While under development, several organisations share responsibility for the management and maintenance of the growing town. Initially a housebuilder is responsible for the area of land it is working on and the site team is responsible for shared spaces, but when those sections are finished, they are transferred to a management company. There is one managing agent for the estate and communal areas, and a number of management companies covering the residential areas.
Sherford is connected via bus routes 1 / X1 / 1A, X38 and GOLD services. These provide regular connections to Plymouth city centre, Derriford, George Park and Ride, Exeter, Buckfastleigh, Ivybridge, Paignton and Totnes.
Bus timetables and live travel information can be found on the Stagecoach Bus website.
It is anticipated that further bus routes will be developed as Sherford continues to grow, to meet local need for public transport.
Sherford is well-connected to the local area via the local road network and to the wider region with its own dedicated link to the A38 Devon Expressway that runs north to Exeter where it connects with the M5, and south-west past Plymouth and into Cornwall.
The cycle network at Sherford is already in development and will be connected to the National Cycle Network, a UK-wide network of signed paths and routes for walking, cycling, wheeling and exploring outdoors.
Sherford will be a cycling-friendly town with bicycle parking provided in a number of places across the community to make it easier for people to travel around Sherford by bike.
