Sherford Community Land Trust

The Sherford Community Land Trust has been set up to help shape the community both socially and economically as it continues to develop. Formed using start-up funds from the Sherford Consortium, the Trust is also funded via an annual contribution from Sherford residents.

The Trust is a not-for-profit limited company, whose board of directors includes a representative from each of the local councils (South Hams District Council, Devon County Council, Plymouth City Council and Brixton Parish Council) and members of the Sherford Consortium.

The Trust works with residents to support community-related activities, including shaping neighbourhood facilities, promoting sustainable living, encouraging social networks, assisting associations and clubs, and supporting the economic development of the town.

If you are a resident, you can be on the Residents Panel and be part of one or more of the working groups to help create and deliver activities and initiatives for the community. Take a look at the Trust website, sign up for the newsletter, and see how you can get involved.

Friends of Sherford Country Park (FOSCP)

A welcoming community group that helps residents connect with, enjoy, and care for Sherford’s green spaces. Open to anyone who would like to get involved, Friends of Sherford Country Park (FOSCP) encourages community participation, environmental stewardship and a sense of shared ownership of the Country Park and surrounding public open spaces. Through regular volunteer sessions, events and activities, there are opportunities for people of all ages and interests to make a positive difference to the local environment.

The group has helped to deliver a Heritage Skills Training Programme, enabling volunteers to learn traditional countryside management techniques such as hedge laying and coppicing. These skills help preserve local heritage while enhancing biodiversity and supporting the long-term care of the landscape. Whether you’d like to volunteer regularly, learn new skills or simply take part in community events, FOSCP offers great way for the community to engage with Sherford’s green spaces.
