Shopping and socialising

With places to drink and dine, shop and socialise, buy essentials and indulge in treats, the vision for Sherford is that is will have a variety of both small independent and bigger well-known shops, cafes and restaurants. These will be interspersed across a vibrant town centre and smaller ‘local centres’ based in each neighbourhood.

Sherford’s first café, the award-winning and extremely popular House of Brews, has already opened next door to Sherford Community Hub, in the first neighbourhood ‘local centre’. A temporary convenience store opened in 2024 in the same location. A welcome addition to the growing town, it provides an essential service for residents, as well those living, working or visiting Sherford.

A planning application has been submitted for Sherford’s first local centre. The mixed-use development, located off Hercules Road, will provide a vibrant community facility with a 4,500 square foot convenience store, 6,000 square foot nursery, three flexible retail units, and 40 apartments above the commercial spaces, plus parking facilities. If planning consent is granted, construction could begin in early 2026 with the centre opening in 2027.

The town centre

Sherford’s town centre will be situated around Main Street, at the heart of the community. The town centre will be a mixed-use development that will provide space for a variety of shops, restaurants, cafes, a place of worship, a town hall, a health centre, as well as homes.

The
Future

Plans for Sherford’s Town Centre are progressing, with discussions underway with the Local Authorities over the proposed designs and planning strategy. There will be community amenities within the Town Centre, including a town hall/multi-purpose building and a healthcare facility. A public consultation will be held in 2026 before a planning application is submitted, to ensure the community has a chance to see the designs and share their views.
