Green spaces

The existing landscape has made a strong and important influence on the character of Sherford which will be a profoundly green and generously planted environment. The creation of attractive, safe and locally distinctive public open spaces will become an outstanding asset for Sherford.

Despite its significant scale already, the Country Park has room to grow; it will eventually span more than 500 acres and integrate into the town via wide planted corridors that sweep into the development. This is all part of the grand green vision for Sherford.

The Country Park

The first phase of this expansive 500 acre public space is already open. As the Country Park expands, it will be integrated with the built environment of the town via wide, deeply green, planted corridors that will sweep into the heart of the development.

Currently, this extensive green space covers over 92 acres of land. With a stream running through it, plenty of fascinating features, and breathtaking views over the valley, the park is a stunning slice of South Hams countryside that is free to visit and open to all.

Diversity of green space

Throughout Sherford, green spaces will include a mix of parkland, meadows, wetlands, stream corridors, woodland areas, pedestrian and cycle paths, hedgerows and new planting, as well as extensive recreation space for play, relaxation, adventure and sports.

The aim for Sherford is to create spaces that connect people with nature, as well as preserving and creating habitats for wildlife and encouraging biodiversity.
