Sherford Community Trust

The Sherford Community Trust has been set up to help shape the community both socially and economically as it continues to develop. Formed using start-up funds from the Sherford Consortium, the Trust is also funded via an annual contribution from Sherford residents.

The Trust is a not-for-profit limited company, whose board of directors includes a representative from each of the local councils (South Hams District Council, Devon County Council, Plymouth City Council and Brixton Parish Council) and members of the Sherford Consortium.

The Trust works with residents to support community-related activities, including shaping neighbourhood facilities, promoting sustainable living, encouraging social networks, assisting associations and clubs, and supporting the economic development of the town.

If you are a resident, you can be on the Residents Panel and be part of one or more of the working groups to help create and deliver activities and initiatives for the community. Take a look at the Trust website, sign up for the newsletter, and see how you can get involved.

It is a bustling space with plenty going on – pop in and see for yourself, search the website for a group you might like to join, or book a place for an activity of your own.

Community Groups

Sherford has a growing range of community groups for all ages and interests – from sports and hobbies to volunteering and social activities. Whether you’re new to the area or have been here from the start, there are plenty of ways to get involved, meet neighbours, and be part of shaping this growing town.

This new community already enjoys a spirit of togetherness that has seen many groups and partnerships come together across Sherford to support community projects such as the Mutual Aid Group that supported families in need during the pandemic, and community involvement during the Tour of Britain, which started its second leg at Sherford in September 2021.
