Transport links

Bus routes

Sherford is connected via bus routes 1A and GOLD services. It will soon be serviced by the number 4. It is anticipated that further bus routes will be developed as Sherford continues to grow, to meet local need for public transport.

These provide regular connections to Plymouth City Centre, Derriford, George Park and Ride, Tavistock, Paignton and Totnes.

All bus timetables and live travel information can be found on the Stagecoach Bus website here.

These are the current Sherford services:

Service 1A (Sherford to George Park and Ride via City Centre and Derriford Hospital)

Service GOLD (Plymouth to Paignton via Totnes)

Plymouth City Council announced in January 2025 that Sherford residents will soon benefit from better bus links, connecting Plympton and Plymstock.

The service number 4 will be extended beyond Plymstock Broadway to serve Plympton Ridgeway via Sherford and Sandy Road, providing new links for workers at Langage and for pupils travelling to and from school. More information will follow when this service launches in Spring 2025.

Road links

Sherford is well-connected to the local area via the local road network and to the wider region with its own dedicated link to the A38 Devon Expressway that runs north to Exeter where it connects with the M5, and South West past Plymouth and into Cornwall.

Cycle routes

The cycle network at Sherford is in development and will be connected to the National Cycle Network. Sherford will be a cycling-friendly town with bike parking provided in a number of places.

In 2023, Sherford welcomed Beryl bikes, Plymouth’s e-bike scheme. The Beryl bays are on Hercules Road at Sherford, just outside of Sherford Sports Hub.

There are over 500 e-bikes located across the city at various Beryl bays. Using a Beryl bike is sustainable, convenient, quick and cost effective. You can hop on and hop off wherever you need to.
