The existing landscape has made a strong and important influence on the character of Sherford which will be a profoundly green and generously planted environment. The creation of attractive, safe and locally distinctive public open spaces in new landscaped parkland, West Sherford Wood and the 500-acre Country Park, will become an outstanding asset for Sherford.
Green spaces
The country park
The first phase of this expansive 500 acre public space is already open. As the Country Park expands, it will be integrated with the built environment of the town via wide, deeply green, planted corridors that will sweep into the heart of the development.
Diversity of green space
Throughout Sherford, green spaces will include a mix of parkland, meadows, wetlands, stream corridors, woodland areas, pedestrian and cycle paths, hedgerows and new planting, as well as extensive recreation space for play, relaxation, adventure and sports.
The aim for Sherford is to create spaces that connect people with nature, as well as preserving and creating habitats for wildlife and encouraging biodiversity.
